DRAX

APPEARANCE:

Adding Drax to the game, I would love to see him in the style of the two pictures. Topless, red tattoos, and of course his signature weapons, two daggers. In the first picture he is a little to gray, so I would choose the more greenish skin from the second picture to make him more accurate to his comic book version.

PROFILE:

Class: Vanguard

Even though Drax is know as The Destroyer, I think he would more fit into the style of a vanguard. Rushing into battle, with only his body as armor to take down bigger foes.

Because of him rushing into battle like The Thing from Marvel Rivals, he would definitely need some form of sustain and durability to not die immediately in the attempt.

Base Stats:

Health: 550

Movement Speed: 6m/s

550 health look at first low, since every vanguard in the game has at least 600, but only because of team-up abilities. Every team-up ability has an anchor, the anchor gets mostly a stat bonus, but the stat bonus is always active even though none of the partners are there. Vanguards get always a bonus on their health, so when someone of them becomes an anchor their base health needs to be lower then what you actually planned for them. With the anchor bonus Drax would have 650 health, which is a basic amount for a vanguard.

Every vanguard has 6m/s and I don't see why he should have more or less then the rest. 

ABILITIES:

NORMAL ATTACK: 

  • Left Click: COMBAT KNIVE​S

    • Casting: Melee

    • Damage: 40

    • Maximum Distance: 4m

    • Attack Interval: 0.33s per hit

  • Right Click: SAVAGE KNIVES

    • Casting: Melee

    • Damage: 25 + 3% of targets Max health

    • Maximum Distance: 4m

    • Attack Interval: 0.33s per hit

Since he is known as a combat master, Drax is able to fight on two different ways with his knives. Both attack deal the same amount of damage on characters with 500 max health. Duelists and strategists have always lower than 500 health, so his left click deals more damage to them, but since all vanguards have at least 600 health, his right click is stronger.

ABILITIES: 

  • Shift: UNSTOPPABLE ONSLAUGHT

    • Casting: Movement-based damage ability

    • Effect: Drax runs in a straight line and stuns the first enemy hit and is immune to displacement effects

    • ​Maximum Distance: 10m

    • Stun Duration: 2s

    • Damage: 20

    • Average Speed: 40m/s

    • Cooldown: 11s

One of the problems of melee characters is to get to their target, so with this ability Drax should have no problem reaching them. I gave it another special effect with the stun but for that, he runs in a straight line and is unable to change the course, but he can cancel the dash, so Drax doesn't fall of clips accidentally by dodging opponents. I got the idea from Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy game, where he has this kind of ability.

  • E: BATTLE CRY

    • Casting: Self

    • Effect: Drax screams at the top of his lungs, increasing his damage by 10% and reducing all incoming damage by 10%

    • Duration: 5.5s

    • Cooldown: 8s

Drax is more of a combat fighter than using some sort of power or technology, which is why I thought him hyping his self up and tighten up his muscles to buff himself during a fight makes much more sense to me.

    • Casting: Straight-line projectile

    • Damage: 150

    • Maximum Distance: 50m

    • Projectile Size: Radius of 10m

    • Projectile Speed: 20m/s

    • Immobilize Duration: 1.5s

    • Energy Cost: 3200

Picking up a giant rock and throwing it on the enemies, is a fitting ultimate for someone who fights purely with his muscles. Everyone who gets hit by it, will get immobilize to balance the low damage. The energy cost is neither extremely high or low and I think it is fine, since it can have a real impact in a team fight but not that it wins the fight on its own.

  • Passive: BULLET PROOF

    • Casting: Self

    • Effect: Range Normal Attacks deal 10% less damage to Drax

I want to design Drax to a fierce melee fighter, who fights only with his combat skills and without power. He is known for having naturally tough skin, so I gave him with his passive better sustain to engage enemies, without being shoot down before arriving. It can also stack with Battle Cry, reducing this damage by 20%.

TEAM-UP ABILITIES: 

  • Mantis: SHARED ANGER

    • Drax: +100 max health

    • Mantis: By taking on the anger of Drax, Natural Anger gives now a damage boost of 15% and reduce incoming damage by 10%

In the movies of Guardians of the Galaxy, they are my favorite duo, and since Mantis is all about reading emotion of others and being able to feel them herself, I think this is a perfect fit. It gives her now a better survivability in battle and better one on one potential.
